All about me there are
Signs of new life,
Of new beginnings
Ripe with promise.
It is
A bit scary,
A lot exciting,
As new foals and calves
Struggle to gain their feet,
Falling often,
Again and again,
But refusing to give up,
Until, finally,
With great satisfaction,
They frolic in the sunlight
Before setting out to explore
The world with growing confidence.
Meanwhile, hidden in the branches
Of a pretty poplar,
Newly hatched chicks
Turn blind eyes
Toward the one
That patiently feeds them
Bits of bugs
And a feast of worms.
Is this merely
A sign of spring,
Or is this, perhaps,
A sign to me
Of a new life awaiting
Here amongst these mountains
That generations before me
Had called home?
Is it, perhaps,
Time for me
To get my own feet beneath me
While I bow to
The will of God
Showing me
The way I should go?
Is it time
To follow my bliss?
My own destiny?
To remodel the world
In which I live?
To leave behind the chrysalis
As I once left behind
My pupae self?
To stretch my wings
And flutter away?
