It seems we've been friends
Forever,
Since junior high in fact.
We lost touch
For nearly forty years
And looking back I remember
Wondering often
Whatever happened
To my old friend?
Where did he go?
What has he experienced?
Have our lives paralleled one another
In any way?
Now we are nearing sixty
And though a continent separates us
We remain
In nearly constant
Contact.
I never forgot
The sheer and joyous fun
Of being around you,
And I'm so happy
That hasn't changed.
You are definitely
One of a kind
And I am blessed
To have you still
And once again
A part of
My life.
Ditto my own experience. I had a childhood friend, she lived across the street, Judy, and then life separated us as we drew up. We are back together again on FB. She knows things about me that no one else will ever know. On that front alone she is truly special. When I write poems about my childhood, she knows. Lovely sentiment here.
Oh my! This came from out of the blue. If this is more than fantasy, one of you had better book a flight--pronto! This is the stuff of great new beginnings. But time does not wait.
