If one more person offers me a drab, cheap, polyester outfit...

If clothes make the man
Does hair make the woman?
Women everywhere
Seem to have
An easier time
Finding just the right
Fashion
To clothe their bodies
Than they do
Finding the right style
For their hair.
Case in point:
Myself!
My body is
A Christmas tree,
Out there
Too large to hide,
So why not
Just decorate it?
And,
Ever the fashion rebel,
I do just that,
Preening
With color
And pattern
And texture
In direct opposition
To those who would have me
Dress
In "slimming,"
Shapeless,
Blacks, browns,
And navys.
But my hair,
Oh, my hair!
No treetop angel ever had
This amount of frizz,
This amount of awkward curl,
Or this amount of gray;
So I spend bukus
Supporting my stylist's
College-bound child
With my vanity.

A nice confession. I certainly hope you feel better telling us about why you spend so much on your hair in a poem.

I've been fortunate to have a wife and girlfriends, including my current partner, who didn't/don't spend much time and very little money on their hair. But they were/are thin and had/have a good self-image of their bodies that they surely told me could be improved here and there with a little nipping and tucking that they never spent money on.

But I have encountered along the way some women who focus on their hair and spend way too much money, occasionally getting ugly under the hairstylist's whims triggered by their own insecurity about their body image or their hair in general. Will I like you better in my presence if you have a wacky, outlandish hairstyle? Goodness, no! Any man can tell you what is attractive to him. Stick with it, he'll stick with you.

An enjoyable read, Rebecca, and it does give me pause for thought as I do not have hair to "maintain" anymore. Fortunately for me, my head suits being "shaved." 😂 Love, peace, and best wishes to you,

Regis. 🌺🌻🌼🌷🌸

Not something I have to worry about, wish I did. I have gone for the fashionable bald look in my dotage; it makes me look younger. But that's not something you can do. Enjoyed your musings this morning.

Don't feel bad, my wife is never happy with her hair either. She uses so much hair spray, we have flies stuck in mid air.
