This came to me after I heard the news
that a little girl, 2 months old, died
in our apartment complex last night...
they think it was SIDS (Sudden Infant
Death Syndrome). I hesitated to post
it, but feel I should. I don't know
what the mother felt, but this may
come close...my sympathies to the
family of this precious little angel.
cold in here this room of death a hospital waiting room--
not knowing and terrified in this room that's seen heartache--
the sky cries tears i can't shed i think i've used my quotient--
and my prayers are they for naught is god even listening--
my baby in i.c.u. bathed in alien green light--
reflected in nurses' eyes in machines living for you--
and death calls i'm not ready for the news the doctor brings--
to this room this cold, cold room sucking the life out of me--

This really hit home, especially since what happened last night! Can't imagine the shock or horror this young mother must have felt when her baby was "down" and paramedics were working so hard to revive her! That has GOT to be a nightmare to end ALL nightmares! Excellent, heartbreaking, powerful write! Well done!
