What We Have Here Is A Failure To Communicate...

THIS IS NOT ABOUT ME. Too many women, however, face this horror every day at the hands of their abusive partners.

THIS HAS GOT TO STOP. NOW.

Poem Artwork

If the sun fails to
rise over the horizon
of his Universe,

the world spins out of
focus as it falls off its
axis yet again,

because  he was not
the center of attention
like he wants to be -

I incur the wrath
of a frustrated teacher,
blaming me once more

for my selfishness,
for my stubbornheadedness,
and stupidity.

If I really listened,
dinner would be ready when
he walked in the door;

the house would be clean
and the children would behave ...
he can't understand

why I don't see things
from his narrowed point of view  -
so it's his duty

as my teacher to
beat the lesson into me -
will I EVER learn?

They stay because they know nothing better. They've been told for so long, they are garbage, they have grown to believe it. Not only that, but so many of them feel trapped, not knowing how they would provide for their children, and too they are simply scared to try and leave for they are afraid of what the abuser would do if he/she caught them leaving.
It's a vicious circle of craziness.
Very well done Karla!

I'm a perfectionist by nature and try to accomplish ALL my roles in life absolutely ALL the time ... except for this past 18 months, when I have taken to writing... things have slipped in other departments which is both a bore and a blessing in equal measure. Things just ain't what they used to be, so perhaps I need my bottom smacked! And YES! I am being devil's advocate here - goodness knows why, when he has enough of his own in this department. What I think I notice in any social grouping is the willingness for some - of either sex and whatever age - to hoover up the blame in a kind of "mia culpa" or Jonah complex; making it very easy for those of a more predatory nature to hound and affix destruction onto them. Perhaps it some kind of primaeval "survival of the fittest". Reckon I'd be a dead duck back with the dinosaurs... Thanks for this rant, Karla... those who suffer this need to hear and hear this over and over until they realise that it's certainly NOT them at fault. Bless you, TY Kate xx

Very true. Many women find hell in the hands of their partners. Thanks for the beautiful thoughts you always share with us.

Affraid too many folk are self centred, selfish folk.
Their mothers baby nursed their every need. Thus expecting their spouse to do the same. Baby raging if not delivered.
Something to be said about making kids share the household chores.
