Living through disaster
bumps the impossible
a little bit closer ....

(This is my screensaver. Isn't it cute?)

Poem Artwork

"It Does Something To You ... "

... living through disaster
bumps the impossible
a little bit closer.

It does something to you;
brings the fright in tighter
so that it embraces

you in claustrophobic
hands that won't let go the
next time the thing you fear

comes sneaking 'round the bend.
Fear changes you, somehow ...
it weakens your resolve

and makes you face things you
don't want to think about:
like your mortality.

Climb a ladder to the highest rung and look at the world below without fear and from another perspective. It's fun.

Love that little kitten, so precious! Well, I really do not worry all that much about mortality because I firmly believe that God is close at hand. Great write....

I think you are right about disasters changing you. We do learn from our lessons in life and living throgh a great storm would be a hard lesson to let go of. Every burst of thunder, every flash of lightning, every storm warning---all of it would put one on guard with fear of the possibility of another disaster. (But I am told that such experiences also toughen you and give you strength you never knew you had.)

Yes that is understandable and I have lived and survived death more than once...I do not fear it anymore.

This is such a great use of words and images. Claustrophbia, which is usually a negative idea, becomes a positive here. I love it.

Fear, the quickest to rob you of your resolve. A neighbor always at the ready to stir that pot over and over again. Then, there is that other neighbor, understanding. Always at the ready to renew that resolve and understand that mortality is just the begining......
Karla, I loved this one. Don't let the "bird" come sneakin round....
My very best as always

LOL at that pic: the kitty's hacked off at the dog; the dog is looking at this tiny, hissing furball and you can just read his thoughts: "Yeah, RIGHT." Adorable picture!

As for this write, you are learning to overcome your fears, and you face the worst ones with the heart of a champion. Excellent poem; very well penned! BRAVA!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :D

Keep on writing!

Living through disaster - makes you weak or strong. Each of us has to decide which it will be. I choose strength because I know God is right here, right next to me.

Fear changes you, somehow ...

I think you're right, and I think we all have our own personal fears. But I also think Roosevelt was right when he said all we have to fear, is fear itself. Somehow, we all must face our own fears, and keep on goin.

I love that picture!
