Random thoughts that came to mind as I watched the election. Probably will lose friends and trackers over this, but can't help how I feel. Feel like there's been deaths: morality. My rights. My heart hurts ...
Blue states. Red. Mixed together,
the color, purple. Purple: as in
irises of change. As in the last
clouds of sunset before night.falls.
As in grapes and violets, as in sea
urchins: ewww, too p r i c k l y!
Pomegranates and eggplants ...
Royalty is colored purple isn't it??
That scares me more than anything ...
... watching the next President
give his acceptance speech.
Not happy with the decision,
but America has spoken: it
just didn't speak for me ....
... so why do I feel so let down? ...
... was my voice even heard in those
calling for change? Think not: ...
... we must unite and support
Barack Obama. Going to be
hard times ahead before they
get any better ... he's going
to need all the help he can
get when things get rough ...
... mark my words: Nero is getting
ready to fiddle while we burn ...
... I just pray he helps us when
it comes down to it. Things are
tough all over. Can't get worse ...
... or can it? ...
... and then I can tell you, "I
didn't vote for him. You did."
... and you can tell me the same thing ...
... despite our differences,
pray for us. Pray for U.S. ....
Yes you are right. A lot more things are happening around the world, and worse than what you all are having in the US - but together, as you have shown us, you can do it.

We always have to hope for the best, regardless of the situation. Everyone has an opinion on this one but no one should lose anything over their opinion. It will be interesting to see what happens next. Hang in there!

I'm praying hard, Karla. In the end, it will be the prayers that save us--that and reaching out and helping others as best we can. Turning our hearts inside out--pulling others in to that safe harbour is exactly what we need to do--- and to think--to make a plan incase things get super rough. Because, you know, if we have a plan, we surely won't need it...
I love America and am proud to be an American...and as Americans we have the right to vote our hearts and our minds...this is what has always and continues to be one of the things that makes our nation great. And no matter how we voted...Barack Obama deserves our prayers and support to lead our country into the future.
We all have our right to vote as we please,and no one should find fault with it . If we all thought alike it wouldn't be the USA

I've been reading through a lot of poetry here at AD today and have yet to read where anyone has said, "He was my choice." I find that odd. You've written a great poem Karla (as usual) but I hope you're wrong with the lines:

I'm proud of my country. More so today than any other day. Remember, "United we stand, divided we fall."
I did vote for him, Karla, and I'm proud of it and proud of our
country as we take this new step into the full realization of equal opportunity for all. I hope you'll feel better in the months ahead.

Karla - he wasn't my choice either. He's got a huge bucket of sh^$ to work through. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and keep our eye on things. I know that this election will bring problems, because of the race issue nobody wants to address. When I hear that Oprah is with him before his speech - it turned my belly upside down. Losing trackers over your work? I think not. Poets are free to speak their minds. Remember - democracy, that's why we're all here.

One of the beauties of living in this country is having the freedom to speak our hearts and minds, and you did a fine job here, Karla. Personally I've never understood why ANY sane person would want the job, and Mr. Obama, especially now, needs all the prayer and goodwill we as a united nation can send his way. Our country was founded by people of faith and we their descendants must continue to have faith that the US will prevail. Rebecca
Some mutual thoughts here Karla. I didn't vote for him either, but my children did. The new generation has it's own mindset and our generation is no longer in control. McCain spent 5 1/2 years in the Hanoi Hilton prison with my uncle Paul (6 1/2 for him) and he earned my support not only there but over his senate years. Anyone who can't hold his hand over his heart for his country just doesn't compare to someone who was willing to give his life and almost did.
But we need to embrace and support him and pray for him and U.S.

My dear friend no one can get upset with you for what you feel, they are your feelings. Lets just pray for him and hope God hears our prayers.
