Poem Artwork

... my world ripped out from under, the
air suddenly vacuumed from my lungs
at the news my big, strong Daddy died.

i wanted to go with him.

maybe it was his strength that pulled
me through, because i didn't think i
had enough of my own.

maybe it was his love that picked me
up out of the debris and set me on a
road back to living.

maybe it was the memories of laughter
that makes me believe he wouldn't
want me to be sad.

thanks, Daddy, for showing me things
would be okay.  they really are, even
though you aren't here with me --

i survived.  =]

daily I see where my father related many things philosophical, business, and the art of day to day living that I perhaps did not fully appreciate when he was alive -- many questions I had answered by him, I no longer have a resource to call upon -- I miss him -- peace and love Karla my dear friend -- Jon Michael

I like the way you kept this short and expressive Karla. I particularly
like the "maybe"'s that show the whole thought process.

A beautiful tribute Karla. I am sure your daddy is smiling at the words and the feelings it took to write this. They say only the strong survive, but I wonder just what they mean by "strong" anyway. Do only the strong in body survive, or do the ones that are strong in their souls survive? We all have our own strengths and weaknesses, and it takes a strong soul to come out on top and look at the world with wide open eyes. Then there are some that are physically strong, and have no idea how to survive the pain of losing a loved one, or be able to bounce back from the negative things that others use to try to destroy the deep inner strength it takes just to wake up in the morning.

I loved reading this Karla and I could feel the strength and the emotions you used to not only write this, but to post it and share it with us. Thank you for this wonderful and endearing tribute.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and who love you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie.

Children that had a loving father will feel more pain that the ones that had a "father", the difference lies in how the child felt when he was around and how felt afterward when only the void was left.

Yes the beauty of loving someone so completely as in a parent or child or lover, is that when they do pass on they leave their love within us forever.

"I survived". Yes, you did, Karla; and the world goes on. Yet daddy still lives on in memories and in us; we are a piece of him, so as long as we live and breathe, daddy does too, in spirit. Beautiful write of love that continues, and hope renewed! Very well penned/imaged; brava! That piccy is spectacular!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :D
