What abuse does to one's self esteem.

Fictional, but I've been there.

take my soul.
feed another part of it to the buzzards.
rip out the choicest parts of me.
i don't need them.
give them to somebody who will give a damn!

take my heart.
what once felt joy now feels incredible pain.
the monitor shows weakening.
i don't need it.
what good is a heart when you have destroyed mine?

take my brain.
you have murdered the essence of what was me.
the verbal assaults have killed it.
i don't need it.
so find someone else not as stupid as me.

take my words.
you tear them up and throw them to the four winds.
they disappear.  they don't matter.
i don't need them.
'cause what good are words for me any damn way???

Very accurate expression. I could feel the "bug under glass" sensation.

Verbal assaults can be oh so horrid, self-esteem attacked, anger building inside, sometimes self-directed. You don't need them... so true.

(((Karla)))

This poem ripped my heart out; a very sad, sobering, and gutwrenching write that speaks of the horrors of abuse from the victim! People don't know what people who have been abused go through unless they know people who live it or see its ugly forces in action. So sorry you went through this; if I could change the past, believe me, I WOULD! NOBODY should have to endure this hell called ABUSE, especially YOU!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :( >tears, tears, tears <
