Second Wind

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Long distance running along a narrow creek
Sprinting for the words I seek
Taking a deep breath before I write
Long distance running into the woods
Where I leap over stones and fallen trees
Keeps me up to pace
With the space within and without
Fills my lungs and replenishes dreams
Assists in wondering of unearthly things
Sometimes it is necessary
To leave the concrete world behind
Before it attempts to render life blind
To see through windows without a frame
And run through meadows without a path
To embrace images infiltrating the soul
And magnify the visions living within stars’ control
Long distance running inside my mind
Brings me to places only imagination finds
Keeps my spirit in shape
Prevents me from trying to escape
The crucial road ahead
Where I recapture
The endurance of my second wind
A beautiful poem, as usual, Ace.
Just be careful 'running' this time of year.
You could wind up with Pop-Lungsicles.
Your first took you far. Like the metaphor of your writing being for the long haul.
super duper Robert, this holds quite a bit of truth. I go to the outdoor wilderness(walk). I look up at the stars at night and wonder. the sky seems to have no limit. I come back in and explore the sky in my head. then my creativity comes. G
Sounds like a man with a mission... winged Apollo with a message to deliver... we wait with baited breath! Makes me feel fat and lumpy since I'm going to be out of the gym for a while now... I'm jealous!! Svelte write! LOL Green Eyes! :))
Ace, Well Done!!! I get the same freedom of imagination while skiing and riding my motorcycle in the mountains .... and I can always re-visit the memories for instant travel for inspiration.
Wonderful poet which rings very true. It's like my profession in a way. I have to do a wild spontaneous painting before I do an intense portrait. Really good, Jude.
Sometimes it is essential to take that long distance run, to escape from the mundane and imposing world that surrounds our lives. We fill our soul with fresh air and allow our thoughts to escape into places free of the human trials and tribulations. We run our self into a place where others cannot taint our thoughts and emotions. This is a stellar write, Robert, a marathon run for the soul.
Take care,
Sherry
perfect imagery for a freezing cold day when all "running" has to be done figuratively. this was most excellent. a map for playing inside the head when it's too cold to go outside.
