There is so much mystery in life
Resembling a mastermind at work

Moments when the sky opens up
Like a uncharted blossom
And reveals the beauty of motion
Arising from within its circumstantial color

Here within these zones of liberty
When light and order
Find a way through the veil
The inevitable happens
The grand revelation
Is recognized
And responds to the energy it is fed

There is much chaos in the stars
And much so confusion here on earth
Yet the mystery of it all
Keeps everything vital and in flux
Maintains purpose in breathing and in dying

In the newspapers I read a story today
Where an elderly couple
Were both found dead in their bed
Dying naturally the night before

And I was overwhelmed by the utter genius
And mysterious beauty of it all

Fantastic write from an utter genius in his own right.
I like these lines...
(There is much chaos in the stars
And much so confusion here on earth
Yet the mystery of it all
Keeps everything vital and in flux
Maintains purpose in breathing and in dying)

Yes, without that quest for meaning, what would be the purpose? Love the flow of this poem, and the line, "There is much chaos in the stars...A thing of beauty, Robert.

Would we all had eyes to see what you see, and minds to grasp the wonder that we will probably never be able to "think" our way into comprehending these things: they are things that come by revelation only. They are therefore, perhaps, faith issues. Someone known to me who is an emminent professor of aviation/aeronautics once held a chair at the University of Pisa - Galileo's old stamping ground: he is always quoting him: "We can tell how go the heavens, but not how the heavens go"... he is absolutely convinced by the miraculous and mysterious and speaks of faith as being a key to discovering more of this absolute "truth". I always think of a star-studded sky as being the pin-holes through which, if we could only put our eye close enough, we would see the smiling face of God! Utterly mysterious, utterly beautiful, utter genius. C'est votre piece de resistance, Monsieur! Formidable! Mwah! Kate xx

I think life would be far too boring without that mystery - and I would love to leave this life together with my wife in a similar fashion to that elderly couple when our time comes.

Not only is there mystery in this life, but so much more to enhance our minds and hearts as well.
You have a special insight for it all Robert, and the gift to share it with the rest of us.
Great writing as always!

This one hits home with the impact of a hammer striking a spike. Fighting my own health problems I too really liked the idea of dying in bed so naturally with the one you love.

The greatest mysteries in life are those that give us the greatest joy, a flower, a sunset, a rainbow. Yes, science can explain it, but its explanation is so inadequate. I loved this piece, especially the end. What greater way to die than together of natural causes so that neither has to suffer the loneliness of loss.

The complexities of life and nature do indeed point to a mastermind. We see chaos simply because we do not comprehend the whole. Nicely done.

Death sure is a leveler. We all meet it. In 50 years all poets who read this will be dead, history, kaput, gone.

Make hay whilst the sun shines, enjoy the beauty.
Fear nowt, love life. Soon we will not be even memories...

I have seen this happen several times as a nurse. In one case a mother and her daughter both died at the same time almost.

Embracing the mystery. What an excellent poem filled with positive thoughts of things we'll never understand anyway. The last stanza and last two lines made me cry.
