You look out your window
To remember the light
You once held within your eyes
And wonder of the time
He walked away from your life
Down the sidewalk
To his car
And drove away into the evening sky
Never to be seen again
You look out your window
And a sigh takes over your heart
You wonder what you could have done
To prevent this arroyo
In your dreams
Would it have mattered if you deemed him wise?
Would it have mattered if he listened to your cries?
Perhaps you weren’t all that surprised
He wasn’t as astute as he thought
For he walked away without looking back
To see you looking out your window
I like this very much. It's a common occurence but you do bring to focus the fact of the loss that's happening. And it seems to me the one who is leaving is the loser here. Thank you for provoking my thought process, Jude. Love and peace to you. Regis
Aawweee,I love that last bit, those last three lines, this poem is a winner.

So subtle. Reminds us of how we don't have to be lonely just because we may end up being alone. (Love the use of "To prevent this arroyo
In your dreams"--funny all I can this of is the Spanish word for "rice" but that's not what you're talking about here, (I had rice pudding with dinner this evening. . . . In any case, this is so reflective, and just like you to remind us we can be free, or captive, by our pasts.

This evokes such bittersweet melancholy and sorrow, Jude. One many people can resonate with. But then, everything I read of yours is that way.
Sad and yet beautifully expressed. To have someone of great import just wander from our life is unfathomable, and you have expressed that feeling of helpless loss here, with an understanding that the other party seemed totally oblivious to the whole thing. As always, emotions so openly and well presented, Robert.
A lesson given in such a uplifting way! Sometimes the one's that flow away are just a refection of ourselves that we are still unaware of. In time the true mate will match with us as we gain this awareness :-)
Oh, my, Robert... this hit a bullseye, directly between the eyes, perfect shot!
You are always so much more than words... there's a mood, an accessibility with a deeply honest and human knowledge in what you write. 'a sigh takes over your heart' invites kinship... who hasn't been there...? BUT... your phrasing of it is where the magic of meaning dwells. As I read, I felt. You're good at that. katy xox.
Your words state so clearly that, within a relationship, communication is everything. Why do people guard their heart from the ones that they love and not share their feelings. If we are not capable of being open and honest, no matter how difficult it may be, then we really should refrain from forming partnerships. Part of give and take is revealing not only your heart but your soul as well. The one you love does not have a crystal ball to tell them what is going on in your head. Very good poem with a solid message, Robert.
I don't know what it is about some relationships, in that words seem to just mess things up and get in the way of something that goes much deeper, that exists on a non-verbal plane. Miscommunication has more to answer for in the progression of relationships than what is ever spoken, I reckon. And, of course, as you imply here: actions so much speak louder than words. Life sure seems to follow the path of misdirection rather than positive choice sometimes: you begin to wonder whether ANYONE is actually doing what their heart is feeling when it really comes down to it. It's amazing how many moments of revelational clarity can be gleaned from just one second's pause to take that view out of the window... This reads like a hall of mirrors that pass the reflections back and forth ad infinitum. Word of the day: arroyo!! Sums up the mood of this piece completely. TY Kate xx

This is a tear jerker! Wonderfully expressed, Jude ...
Another creative masterpiece. I hate using hackneyed terms but with you this applies. Great word pictures that create a sense of melancholy. You seem to have been able to enter her soul. Poignant ending that lingers on...
Great work Jude

Listen, Jude, stop driving by my house watching me look out my window. Or are you flying by on that winged palomino? Okay, Shaman, that was a neat trick and an even better poem. ;-) ~~Nordette
speaking as if been there before

This sure does speak volumes, of how cheaply some folk treat relationships, regardless of the betryal, and feelings for the one they -loved-?
