Logging off

Dan Johnson

Logging off, the flag waved to me,
Followed by that tune, oh so irritating!

I started thinking about this machine so fine,
I can circle the globe in no time and learn
The intricacies of making stinky turpentine.

And my head goes flip flop flip flop as I go logging off.

I can write the great American novel, or go to eBay
To buy a much needed shovel. How grand! I think?

When I consider its mighty power, running, if I want,
Seven days and twenty-four hours, but who would?

Let’s consider what it takes to keep up in this ever changing world.

Twenty years ago, nary did I think that my life would surrender to;
Gigabytes, megabytes, kilobytes, jpeg, html,
Oh my God, my life is caught in this hell…called a laptop.

And my head goes flip flop, flip flop as I go logging off.

Then consider we have PDF, java script, spam, but who needs that kind of ham? Adding to this verbal flog, don’t forget, you can daily blog…oh the wonder of it all!

I could go on, it really doesn’t matta,
My ‘puter guru tells me, and don’t we all have one,
Says, it’s amazing this little box can hold an insurmountable,
Amount of...disc and data.

Now my screen is dark and I have finished logging off.

We know what we did years ago before it was part of our life, because we are the ones today that can spell, read and write along with think for ourselves but I have to admit it has made our lives a little bit eaiser. At our age it is ok for us to slow down and let the computer do the work. Amazing, just amazing. Thanks Dan, it is always a joy to read your words.

LOL, Dan,

Try having an hour limit on the 'puter every day. No more. Even if not busy...o, to have my own computer!! Mebbe a good thing I don't have one: I'd never get anything accomplished. Well, almost nothing. :) I'd still keep writing.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. *logging off now* :)
