I found this in the 'lost files' box from a few years ago. I admit, it's silly, but it was fun to write. dlj

The Palm Reader
Dan Johnson
© 1997

On a coldish Saturday morn,
Not long ago, a friend, a real friend
     Said
Upon your palms, please let me tread.
What did I have to lose?
I didn’t expect any earth shattering news,
Except maybe a few unknown truths.

Damn thing is just when you think you know all, there is to know
     About yourself,
Some well meaning, but not all knowing keeper of the crevices,
     Creeps through the cracks,
And across the bumps, to foretell some
     Unforeseen rise or fall.

Expectations are rising high,
Watching her eyes move from palm to palm,
Now there’s a spiritual flow as she stares with
The grit of a palmist spy.

Her head bobs up and down and side to side
trying to get a readers fix,
And all I do is sit there, and wonder why.

Finally, she sighs in fearful dread,
About to speak of the past, and what lies ahead.
My pulse is beating, my heart races fast, anticipation, and expectations
     Have been surpassed.

I ask “What do you see?” and she simply says “Things that are to be,”
Then the phone rings and she talks to a girl friend about how she lost her hard drive, and needs to increase her mega bites, and she broke a nail.

Too bad, this phone call has broken a mystic calm, ‘cause she forgot about my palm.

That phone call must have been 'one of those things that were to be!'

And wishing you a joyous Christmas and a wonderful New Year, my friend.

Very strangely inspiring... My life-- not written on my palms, but on His; My little cuts, my ego's bruise-- my angry jabs, my lustful muse-- my little lies, my obeise pride-- my marble heart, my empty sacrifice-- all these things... and He still loves me... with hol(e)y hands He forgives me all... Amazing! Isaiah: He cannot forget you; He has engraven you upon the palms of His hands...

Dan that would be my luck too but we all know what our future holds, whatever we work towards and yes maybe a few bumps and curves along the way. If we live a happy, healthy and good life then our future will be happy, healthy and good. there and I never had to read your palm. Merry Christmas and the best through 2008.

Newfie hugs, Rose

Oh Dan, so you never found out your lifeline or heart line or any of that. pooh, I used to read palms, but I recently had mine read by a mystic that I trust dearly and the best new is that she said I was going to live till old age, never dying in a car accident, so now, I drive without fear and you know, I should have been dead a few times. lol
So, I guess they know what they are talking about..Much love, light and peace to you dear man, Happy Holidays,
