After watching CBC channel eight news about puppy mills in Quebec tonight.
*Puppy Mills!* *Call me again he says,* *If it don’t work,* *In the meantime, in-between time,* *Thousands and thousands of little critters,* *Live and die in horrendous conditions,* *While the politicians wine and dine,* *It’s is amazing, this liaise affair,* *Going on between the puppy mill owners,* *And their legislated overseers, Anima Quebec,* *A cozy arrangement, giving the fox the key to the henhouse,* *Well you’ve heard it said, animals can’t talk, they won’t tell,* *Thousands upon thousands live in hell,* *The pet stores too, are in this brew,* *They stir this ugly greedy stew,* *Money talks, we trade in slaves,* *We trade in slaves for the money,* *We have only happy slaves,* *The rest died in captivity or on the way across,* *Across from Quebec that is,* *Keep on buying folks, we is happy, aren’t they cute?* *This one is a real beaute,* *Give your son a present, for his birthday, Christmas, Easter,* *He’ll have a real hoot,* *If he gets tired of the pup, just give it the boot,* *The city will take care of it in due course,* *We kill millions without remorse,* *Every year, thousands wander the streets in bitter cold,* *No drink, or food or shelters have, some weak and old,* *Thousands killed in Montreal alone,* *No one will, for their death atone,* *Just multiply its simple math,* *If, your conscience so much courage has,* *We’ll change the legislation, if need be,* *So says the premier, he will see,* *Mr. Charest I think it’s time,* *High time that is, you’re late by many death,* *Inflicted on a cruel life of beings small,* *Do not; I urge you do not stall.*

I never realized that Canada had the same horrendous puppy mill problem that we do. And another huge pet store franchise has just been liked to puppy mill breeders here.

And why anyone still pays thousands of dollars for a sickly pup from a pet store, when they can get an adorable dog or pup from a shelter for about 50 bucks, I just do not understand.

Don't Shop - Adopt, is the only way we can stop them - our politicians surely won't.

As I understand, there are laws against enslavement, selling babies from unwed mothers, selling smuggled babies, cruelty to animals...but we haven't got a law prohibiting over production of pets? pels farms in a modern 2008 when we aren't no more in the stone age that forced us to use animal fur to keep us from freezing to death?
Say, are we back in the stone age? because the Chinese eat their dogs!

Jasmin, oft times we must do what we must. We can not save the world no matter how much we try. We feel but we are helpless. There are things we can not control, try as we may. Acceptence is one thing we can do. Our love for animals will never wane, but we must accept the things we cannont change, change the things we can, and pray the wisdom to know th difference.

i am very well schooled in thi horrendous situation: puppy mills. I have worked with animal shelters in adoptions and what can I say? In America, what, 18 million animals euthanized a year? And people jut keep breeding animals. I can't stand it. Thank you for posting this poem.
