We fade into the cliffs like shadows, mere silhouettes in the sun, playing as one with the birds singing with the brush, the sage, the cactus We fade into a mirage leaving only when the sun, escaping behind a cloud dances with a ray like the beasts, lizards the rodents, the coyotes They fade into the paint of the desert floor, lie with the flowers The colors blend hiding the thorns, sleeping with the dead, who dream of living Once again, to breathe the air, the dust, the chalky bluffs coughing the poison into the wind The air blows away the afternoon Turning in red and purple, crimson blood We bleed the dirt and cough up the mud, which we�ve become, as our shadows grow long Our lives are short We bleed our tears, our lives and deaths flows in the graves, we hide and earth becomes us, as it swallows the air, the blood, the spirit, the mud We are reborn, as we spread ghosts over time to live as another comes, carrying with it rain The storm clouds cover the moon The flaming stars fall, marking our return, shows us the way We fade into the day We fade like shadows leaving only at sunset The falling stars flaming We fade like shadows into the cliffs becoming like clay, and the earth turns The sun shines bright the heat burns Our souls are on fire � CJ Clark All Rights Reserved
