The Vision Seeker
I watch the fire light in the evenings
and have visions come from the flames
One night I feel myself lift free
I begin to float above the flames
I could see myself sitting next to the fire
I saw a little spotted dog
I followed him
I drift into an ancient land
I see a encampment and fear the sight
for their is burning and screaming
I hear rifles repeating and many bodies fall
They lie silent now
I wonder why this scene appears to me
I see the little spotted dog
he leads me to warriors returning to camp
One old man see’s me floating above them
and he says look for the fold of time
You will know it when you see it
Follow your spotted dog, he knows your soul
The sky is brightly lit now
I feel the stars shoot all around me
I see the ancient ones are sitting in a circle
They are sacred and smoke the peace pipe
I know I need to stay, but I can’t
I am afraid and one voice asks of me
Son, Do not fear this circle of wisdom
Soon you will understand your purpose
I awaken where I had sit
looking deep into the fire light

visions. Perhaps you had a past with the people. Perhaps you are
a bridge between cultures. Maybe you are sensitive to dimensions
unseen. At any rate, these campfire poems are exquisite, Dale...
