a poem is coming this is an update for all my good friends here at the den. sorry for my absence.

Hi All,
I've been graced with another lease on
life after having survived a liver transplant. My new liver is doing good,
so far.
The story started at University Hospital in Denver Oct 3 when I had an umbilical hernia repaired so I had already spent three weeks in the hospital at that time. I was readmitted Nov 3 I was suffering from an abdomen infection, not sure of the correct term. I had a lot of fluid around my liver and stomach, which had been with me for nearly 6 yrs, when I was diagnosed with Hep C and cirossis. (sp) ;) I have suffered this entire time with a lot of symptoms.I have been on the transplant list for 2 yrs.

I feel many emotions, the donor
was a twenty yr old man that was in an
accident and was declared brain dead.
My surgeon told me the day of the surgery that if I hadn't gotten the liver that day, I would have died. My liver was in total failure mode at that time. It was this man that donated his
organs who saved my life. I'm forever
grateful to him and his family.

Nov 21 was the date of the transplant
I was released, readmitted with some
complications and now I'm home trying
to recuperate. It was an 8 hr surgery
so I am in a lot of pain, getting better
every day though. All of my med labs show my liver to be working very well.
Hence it seemed to me a miracle and
I'm so very happy to have this chance.
Thanks to those of you who prayed for
me and thought of me. I'll be back with
some poetry shortly.

Love & Peace
Dale

DALE, I AM MORTIFIED THAT I HAVE BEEN SO UNAWARE OF THIS! FORGIVE ME! But if prayers and love and thoughts can be backdated, then get ready for an onslaught to beat even that of your Christmas mail!!!! :)))) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx THANK GOD, THANK GOD... So near the edge but back from the brink. Have to say, I've done that two or three times and each time it all seems totally surreal yet somehow I can appreciate and be deeply, deeply thankful that I live to fight another day. May every breathe you take be sweet and doing healing good to both your body and your mind and soul as you drink in how good life is and reflect upon your future. Be well, Sweetheart, and go easy on yourself... No rodeos for at LEAST two weeks! But we'll let you flex your writing fingers and welcome. We'll look forward to all the wonderful creations your mind has been storing up and working on during this extraordinary time. Rest in the cradle of our cyber embrace, you hear??!! And our thanks, too, to that beautiful young man and his self-less family. Love and comforting kisses, Kate xx

It is good to share the news on this site. It makes one think of how precious our life is and how we can waste it, depreciate it, take it for granted. One of my best friends has lost a kidney. But she was also told that she would need no chemo and that the cancer hadn't spread. She keeps telling and writing about the importance of being alive.
This is an important message, indeed!

All the best,

Axilea

Dale,

(((gentle HUGS))) Welcome home. Bruised...battered...but A L I V E. Praise God. You're in my prayers for a speedy recovery.

Take care of yourself,

(((more gentle HUGS))) and love, Karla.

My twin sis last year had aceites (think that's the spelling), abdominal swelling. It was due to a grapefruit sized NON CANCEROUS tumor growing off her uterine wall; it pinched off her colon, so she had a colostomy--she's doing better, thank God.
