I belong in the mountains
It’s there that I feel at home
With the cool tender breezes blowing
And with the trees as my natural dome
I sit on sandstone boulders
Prior to the break of day
Watching nature unfold
As the night melts away
The mist rises from the water
At the very brink of dawn
Creating an aura of mystery
Before the night has gone
The dew drips from the pines
Falling softly to the ground below
Which in the waning moonlight
Gives the grass an earthly glow
The drops of dew sparkle
In this mystic light
Casting tiny rainbows
To those caught by the sight
The sound of rushing water
Is the only one to hear
Drowning out the other voices
Of the birds and animals that draw near
Encircling eagles soar above me
As I gaze upon the sky
Making me ever cognizant
Of the depth of power passing by
I rise from my position
As the suns’ light peeks through the trees
I walk silently from this paradise
With water dripping from the leaves
I smile as I leave this place
Though there are brimming tears in my eyes
For the affect this beauty has on me
Is impossible for me to disguise
So allow me to extend
An invitation to those of you who dare
To witness this indescribable splendor
The next time I return there
