You ran into the woods
and shot yourself in the head
September 25, 2003
The police request a positive I.D.
on the body of a sixteen year old boy
My baby brother.

You left me here alone
nothing but questions
nothing but loneliness
nothing but pain.

All I can wonder is
before you pulled the trigger
did you think about us
did you think of how much
our mother and I loved you?

Did you really know I loved you?

That I idolized you?
That I bragged about you,
talked about you,
missed you, needed you?

This isn't pretty
it isn't poetry
It's just the only way
I know how to talk to you now.

Every little blond-haired boy
is you.

Every country voice on the radio
is you.

Every corner I turn
there is you.

I can't believe that you're gone.

Robert, I love you baby.

Take that knowledge to heaven with you
and while you're up there
catching the big ones
and singing your heart out

look after my baby.

April, the only words I have to offer in this time of inexplicable sadness are... time does not heal - but eventually love will. may it help to know that someone out there (me) has experienced this kind of loss, has lived through it and is emerging from the other side. take care of yourself girl and don't shut down. Love to you, Candy

What a sad write. My heart goes out to you and your brother. Teenagers are the number suicidal stats. The way they see the world is different from the way we see it.

A very moving write, April!

This is the perfect place to speak to him, April.
I know these questions you ask, and I know answers are elusive. I have no magic words for you, but know we care. It's ok to be angry, and it's ok to cry... and it's ok to one day carry on.
In the meantime... talk to us.

I am so sorry, April...that is a major loss and I can only hope that he does take that knowledge to heaven with him of how much love he left behind.
