"Lady of the Forest"

A legend whispered throughout the town
That when October moon is full
She sits upon a fallen oak
Soft hair dancing with nipping breeze
Flowing to symphonies of the night
Softly touching shaded breasts
Which firmly shield her broken heart
Moonlight sparkles in her eyes
Piercing forest’s silhouettes
Peering into blacks and grays
Turning slightly to wooded sounds
Vigilance worn on seeking face
This momentary speck of hope
Exhaled deeply with its death
Her voice is heard upon the wind
Sultry notes of lonely pause
Distinct and clear to those who pass
Her spirit’s grief and soulful moan
Imprisoned in this forest glade
Searching for her lover lost
Who walked this path so long ago

Full Moon rising over the lake
Lovers breath not to forsake.
Will this be the fullest moon
Bringing her love back in tune.
So Long ago, he broke her heart
And since that day he did depart.
Leaving her with wounded pride
Never her heart did mend inside.
She wears her soulful protective armor,
Allowing not another love to harm her..
Winds in autumn find their way
To fuel the transitional play.
Playful notes resounding,
From the Moon beams grounding,
Allowing peaceful energy flowing
Toward that orb that is always glowing.
The legend tells of lovers lost,
But never replies about the cost.
Centuries spent longing to reunite
Her soulful love and release from this plight.
She spends countless years,
And many rivers of tears,
Filling the earth to the brim,
Only to sadly remain grim.
A legend whispered throughout the town
That when October moon is full

And so the legend remains and repeats, and repeats, and repeats…….

you guys write really well together and I am impressed
The spirit of love is powerful but often sad. Sometimes as we search for that lost love or its spirit we become so lost we may never escape its grip. It is amazing how well your works fit together on this theme. The allusions, the rhyme and abstract path of mysticism is so beautifully crafted. Certainly a joy to read.
I love both contributions, they paint a story line that leaves this reader wanting more......its both elegant, adult, and haunting
