A monster's lurking in a lake
A sea sepent is what some say
No, it's not the Loch Ness monster
This one's here in the U.S.A.

Deep in New York it makes its home
First spotted in Bulwagga Bay
Nearly two hundred years ago
Some said it was a giant snake

Those who saw it didn't believe
Their eyes were playing tricks on them
They weren't certain of what they'd seen
Yet knew it would be seen again

And then sixty plus years later
A steamship captain saw it too
A head and neck that made a wake
Seen by passengers and the crew

Pretty soon it gained attention
Some thought that it should have a name
Since Lake Champlain was its playground
"Champ" would become its claim to fame

Part of believing Champ exists
Leads one thinking what he might be
Some say he's just a lake sturgeon
But one that big has never been seen

So, is Champy a dinosaur
That escaped extinction somehow?
Another theory suggests a whale
One fool called it a swimming cow

Never been known to hurt anyone
So, whatever this creature may be
Guess Champ just wants to swim in peace
And hide to create this mystery
