How Much Do You Want?

Poem Artwork

Well it finally happened

I pulled into the gas station

And there before you could get to the pump

Sat a desk complete with computer and printer

The man at the desk ask what were my assets

Did I want to take out a home equity loan?

How would I rate my credit; good, poor, or fair?

What was my job and how much did it pay?

I finally managed to get in a word

What is all of this for? I asked.

Why, for your loan, he replied.

What loan and why are you here at the gas pump?

Well how to do you expect to pay

If you don’t take out this loan today?

With my debit card of course, I replied.

Let me see, and he typed into his computer

You don’t have enough money in your account!

You must take out this loan

Or let me call in the surgeon

What type of gas do you use?

Regular, I said with a furrow on my brow

That will be your left arm, your left leg

and the first three toes on your right foot

Have a nice day.

You aint lyin'! In California there's a big slot on the pumps so you can slide in the deed to your house. One day we'll tell our grandkids, "When I was your age, gas was only $3.00 a gallon!" And they'll say, "You mean you could by a whole gallon at once?"

Ha! Very good, because we'll need loans to get gas soon. Still such self-control they exhibit holding the price this summer to $2.80 a gal.

wahahahahaha!
i could see that coming!
petrol and extortionist prices and the completely unpredictability of the whole game. it stays stable so you finally give in and fill your tank and the next hour the price drops by 7c or something evil and crushing like that... XD
very witty.
i think the first three toes would be the most taxing loss for me... ive lived 6 months without an arm [well not literally but i have a busted collarbone and it isnt fixing so i am very limited in actions]

Sad but that day is fast approaching especially when it comes to taking vacations etc, I know I went to a funeral this weekend out of town about a four hour drive from here and getting there and back cost me over a one hundred bucks.

It sure seems that way, these days. I think I'll start riding my bike far more often, but I better put air in the tires at home; these gas station bandits now charge for that, too.
