In the Philippines, election is an event of "hocus-pocus" and some candidates can turn the tide of votes through some funny but weird methods.
"Sounds family" is a term humorously used in my country to say something seems familiar.

The list of voters disappear
And those from the grave enlist,
The masterlist goes there to here
With voters' names amiss.

A place with known residents
At once give birth to a thousand more,
And the signatures present
Help to muddle the scores.

Now there's the same comedy
That's in the US already-
The same technique to win an election,
It really sounds family.
