I remember how happy I'd get if I even received that plastic little camera which had a slide show with the push of a button,or even when money was tight and my little sister's gift to me was making up the bed for me....those were precious times.
Wonderful memories of days gone by. I think most of us hung our stockings and were glad to receive what ever was in them. Times have changed and it gets harder to keep the sentimental values and family traditions in place ....M
Many of us don't have memories that we can feel so dear and perhaps it is why we strived to make our children have wonderful ones. You have a wonder Christmas. Lady J
yeah so true John, the simple life is fading away and so is the joy of simplicity and innocence...nice to read you again and Merry Christmas to you and to your loved ones....S
So sweetly written and I sometimes believe that the children of today have become very greedy, not just at Christmas, but of their wants all year long. Everything has become an entitlement, so sad.....
O, to have Christmas like it was when we were young, when we didn't have to worry about political correctness ruining our holiday celebrations....God, to return to those simpler, happier times; Christmas just isn't the same anymore, which is a crying shame! Very well penned; bravo!

Yes, indeed, I recall the Christmas's where the picking were slim, but they were so much more appreciated than they are now . . . It is CHRISTMAS THREE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FIVE DAYS A YEAR for children these days . . .
Your poem is full of nostalgia memories for me. WE made Christmas love. We were poor but we had priceless memories of the things we made for one another and the values our parents gave to us as undying gifts. Thank you so very much John. Merry Christmas,
Love,
Susan
John very beautiful message in this wonderful poem! We need to hold our memories dear as they are just that, memories that differ from those who are making theirs now!
The magic of Christmas has been removed due to corporate greed and the almighty dollar. Sad. My best Christmas memory? When Karen and I were eight or nine years old, we came downstairs and found that Santa had been there: his footprints were all over the living room! And a HUGE polar bear awaited Karen...the look on her face is something I won't forget. :) She went down on one knee, with a look of wonder. :) I still believe. :) A beautiful write of nostalgia, John, well done.
Oh indeed they are! I have some of those same memories, a bouncy ball and a peppermint stick! The generations after us will not ever understand the simple goodness that should be Christmas....
