The Waves (Little-Wave Rider)

A few thoughts while surfing in Florida last Friday, August 29th - then I elaborated. I usually don't think much when surfing, (thankfully)!
Now that I am imprisoned inland (safe from Hurricanes but also safe from the joys of the beach) I don't get to go much.
I did good and had fun, but my back remembered how seldom I get to go the next morning...
It was a perfect (for me), "Little-Wave Rider" day.
Of course sometimes "The WAVES" aren't all that little and all that friendly:
My condolences and prayers to any who have become victim to the rampages of this hurricane season; but it is a fact of life living on the Southeast coast. Please listen to your emergency officials and weather service and do what they say. Hurricanes are serious storms no matter what size they come in, they can take lives!

The Waves
{7, 7, 9, 9}

I’m just a splash in the ‘Sea of Time’

Like waves we roll up on these shores,

Then breaking, recede in the undertow,

Merging with the Spirit of the Sea again

Individuality in the cosmic sea of Universality.

Other waves come, endlessly rocking they unfold,

Crashing, they disappear, but the ocean remains the same.

Eternally playing this game, (this “Lila”)

Playfully crashing – Spirit creating

On the thin shore of effervescent life

Foaming - Ebbing after the flow,

Procession of Creation in the Cosmic Show.

Yet, the Sea she remains the same;

Old mother crone rocking her cradle, [Endlessly rocking…]

We waves seem to wander forever

[Under windblown skies, sun & rain]

But one day the shore is reached

That empty horizon is gained.

We find ourselves at a ‘seeming ending’

Merging our beings, hoping a ‘new beginning’

Flowing – under-towing – outgoing… sliding into,

[“Old Mother Sea”] Into Her Infinity

Lost like great waves in the Cosmic Sea.

“Little Wave-Rider” ride time, day to day

Behind me a sea of confusion, before me new horizons;

No wave carries same water -- Sun splashes rainbows as

I cut the face, turning into foam-spewing crests--

Spirit makes us over, ‘waking every day.

Can a diamond ever rust?

Does the Ocean ever tire?

Can a wave be a wave apart from the Sea?

Is there ever any power that could separate you and me?

Wave are so interesting, they only go up and down, but appear to move. The same waves that make music.

Oh Michael, the utter pristine beauty that you draw out in the piece is just magnificent. The questions you ask, so simple, yet there are no answers and we are left in awe....

Be always safe,
Karen

Michael,

You invoke the spirit of the sea and remind us of its beauty in these lines. Keep riding, my friend.

Michael, I believe Sage said it all, except, I will add this:
I believe that old mother crone is rocking down the shells and living the life in mermaid style to the sixties free love and peace man.
Love this poem/song, you are one cool dude.
Peace, love, and light,
