THIS IS SO TOUCHING AND THE FACT THAT LAST YEAR AT THIS TIME, I WAS HOMELESS IN WASHINGTON, DC MAKE YOUR WORDS EVEN MORE MEANINGFUL FOR ME. STILL I DO REMEMBER AND WILL NEVER FORGET THAT IN THE MIDST OF MY HARDTIMES SWEET JESUS NEVER LET ME FORGET THAT HE WAS NEAR. I GOT INTO A SHELTER AND THERE WERE SO MANY WAYS THAT HE REACHED OUT TO COMFORT ME....THROUGH NATURE AND THE KINDNESS OF PEOPLE. 2010 WAS A GOOD YEAR FOR ME...I'VE NEVER SEEN MY SAVIOR...SO CLEARLY. TODAY I LIVE IN OWN PLACE IN A SUBSIDIZED SENIOR CITIZEN COMPLEX IN GEORGIA. ISN'T GOD WONDERFUL?! THANKS FOR SHARING THIS WORK, LARRY...IT WAS VERY MUCH ENJOYED. THE BLESSINGS OF A HAPPY NEW YEARS TO YOU AND YOURS. LOVE & FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
If we have the will to help, God will show the way.
This grabs the heart....well done, Larry.

Instead of saying prayers for them, why not invite one or two of them to join your for Christmas dinner? Praying seems the easy way out to me ... and, before you start screaming: yes, we DO invite homeless families to our house for a Christmas celebration we hold for them (since we do not celebrate it ourselves). They are dirty? So, let them take a shower, or a nice warm bath, supply new toothbrushes and hairbrushes and combs and give them some new clothes.
No, we never had a problem with any of them and they always left our guest apartment behind as clean as they had found it and they all became friends.
This is one way of giving them the dignity of survival and the one thing no gouvernment in this damn world gives them. It is, we hope, also a way to make this world a little bit friendlier for some of the unlucky ones and there are so many of them!
the homeless seem to be growing in population every year, beyond the inner cities, they now dwell in the suburbs and countrysides here on the west coast...please say prayers for them all...everyone should have the dignity of survival
A reminder that we all should reach out and offer a lending hand or just a smile and a kind word...this could make that homeless person's Christmas a little brighter by allowing them to see that they are someone in the eyes of the one who speaks & smiles.
Larry,
This is POWERFUL!!! It got me right in the heart. I too feel for all the homeless people in the world. All the abused and the lonely and hurting. If only things could be different and their would be no more hunger, no more tears or abuse. One day it will be so...when Jesus comes again. You have taken a very sensitive subject and blown me away with it. You are an amazing poet.
A very sad commentary, my friend, and there are far too many of these homeless souls in this vast nation of ours. May we all remember them with a little kindness and compassion this Holiday Season.
Nice correlation and being homeless is certainly not a fun place to be, especially when one has very young children and then they too are forced to carry a burden cast upon them....
There, but for the Grace of God, go I...been down that road. Thank God every day for the blessings I do have. May not be much, but compared to where I was, I'm rich. Thank you, Larry, for the powerful, compassionate poetry today.
