My second poem written at church camp about a pest in the woods.
“Why did God create the tick”, is a question I often ask. Why was it so important in his first creation task? The spider, wasp, ant and the snake aren’t on the list of things I would make. I do think caterpillars are nifty when, as butterflies, they go at fifty. Next time God decides to make more I’ll gladly tell Him which to ignore. If I get a chance His mind to pick I’ll ask if he’ll get rid of the tick.

I hope you don't mind if I add my request along side of yours for Him to get rid of that tick too. If the tick vanishes, that's when we find out how important it is for our survival. It seems that once something is gone, we find out how important it may have been to our own survival. There are times when it seems God works in mysterious ways to us mortals.

My dogs don't seem to mind ticks too much at all, but my spouse absolutely freaks out if one gets on her. (She would love it if all the spiders vanished, too - but I keep telling her how we truly need spiders.)

Larry, your writings from the point of view of a little child are right on the money.
I know you have the phone number of the Big Boss up there, so please give Him a call so my brother Ed can get a Jackpot somewhere (he owes me a crate of Coors beer) and can get on with his life; but I don't think the Big Boss don't like him, it is just that Him is having a heck of a time trying to forgive me.

The whimsey in this poem brings a smile to my face. I think I would personally add cockroaches to those animals that I wish He would get rid of. Truly funny!
