He complains about a war on Christmas
And he puts it on his Facebook page
But the crowds at all the shopping malls
Make him come home red with rage.
“Keep Christ in Christmas” is his battle cry
as he passes the vespers at his church
where he was to go with some friends
but he left them in the lurch.
He avoided the bell ringer at the store
Complaining about this commercial thing
And shoved a couple of carolers at the door
Singing “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing.”
They shouldn’t say “Happy Holidays”
He yelled with his pious Christian voice
And Merry Xmas is just as bad
but it definitely wasn’t his choice.
Bitterness filled his life in the battle
To defend this sacred season
And he began hating the people
As he criticized them without reason.
There was no “joy to the world” in his heart
And he enjoyed no “silent night.”
The manger became far, far away
And nothing seemed to be right.
He learned much from his mistake
And it was not just on a whim.
The real war on Christmas
Was caused by Christians like him.
Next year he’ll ignore the battle
And concentrate on God’s love.
He’ll read the Bible and sing the songs
And look for the gift from above.
He’ll go to the church for worship
And sing carols of great joy
While he awaits the coming
Of God’s special boy.

I am an atheist, but I enjoy singing the great Christmas carols (many former songs sung in pubs, cleaned up and reworded) and enjoying the festivities. If he lived, Jesus was a great example and provided many lessons for life that are often ignored by the pious in their desperate fear of their own personal, hypocritical lives.
