Hopeless, Hapless Love

The timbre of his voice

Clear, articulate

Melodic, seductive

Completely bombarding my senses

Who is this man

Whose face I do not know

Is he tall, dark and handsome?

Or, is he the spitting image of Austin Powers?

His voice calls to over the radio

Reminding me of the time of day

Some inane bit of trivia tumbles out

All the while I shout, “Speak.  Let me hear your voice.”

I am lost in a world where his voice is all I hear

I live for 7 o’clock in the morning, Monday thru Friday

I called the other day to request a song

He answered.  My tongue was tied.

But his “Hello.  Hello.  Caller are you there?”

It was just for me.

Now I call everyday just to hear him say, “Hello” to me.

My friends say I need to get a life.

I have one.

I live to hear the timbre of his voice

Clear, articulate

Melodic, seductive

Completely bombarding my senses

They say women are seduced through their ears and men through their eyes. I tend to agree. Cute poem. Rebecca

the games our minds play are diverse -- but alas, the mystery of the face that we perceive as accompanying those special voices we hear when no person is visible -- are indeed a thing of wonderment --it is in the nature of our basic instincts, to think most positive and form the ideal that creates these scenarios -- more often than not, the disappointment is immense when we are at last able to put face and voice together -- our expectations were too high and unreasonable -- a tantalizing thought provoker Kathy -- may peace and and eye candy be yours tody -- JMW

Cute piece Kathy, but do you return to reality afterwards?

Kathy, this is delightful, and like many a delight tinged with a little sadness, and the closing as the opening, just right.
