'The pen is mightier than the sword.'
This, as writers, we do often decree.
If this were so, then it would ward
some 'looking into'! Well, at least to some degree.

I wonder if the sword knows its been replaced?
Does the pen hum at it in smug satisfaction?
Come to think of it, when was the last time I traced
a heart, with the tip of a sword, in momentary distraction?

What became of our hero bearing a sword and shield?
Did he follow some unknown trail to the long distant past?
Is he waiting for a fair maiden in a flowery field
or is did a King summon him with a trumpet's blast?

I wish I could have seen the fair Camelot.
I wish I could have dined at the huge round table with the knights.
I wish I could have seen the handsome Lancelot.
Wouldn't seeing a real joust be great, when the fighting was real fights?

I confess I am romantic and long for a more romantic time.
I admit that I wish I could look just like a young Stevie Nicks.
I guess it shows in my poems and in many of a rhyme
that I write with lots of wishing and sometimes, just for kicks.
