Ah, the sweet pleasure of the pillow!

How soft, cool and gently it cradles my head.

The sheet over me will rise and billow

as I roll over and play dead.

Who made mornings happen so early?

Why does the alarm have to sound so shrill?

I admit, I am feeling a bit grumpy and surly…

I just wish the world would sit still.

I just want to stay here, under the sheet,

for another five minutes or so.

Why should I rush out madly into the street.

Do I really have to go?

I guess work is important to me…

there are bills I need and have to pay.

But hear the complaint, for I will speak succintly,

I want to stay in bed today!
