Groundhog's Day

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

On Gobbler's Knob, Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania at 7:27 a.m. this Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 2003, Punxsutawney Phil, King of Groundhogs, Seer of Seers, imitated but never equaled, responded to the summons of Groundhog President Bill Cooper. Bill Deeley, his friend and Handler greeted him affectionately and placed him atop his domicile, the old oak stump. From this lofty seat he addressed the large enthusiastic throng of faithful followers, wishing them a "Happy Groundhog Day." Phil may be as cute as a Beanie Baby but when he predicts in his Groundhogese there is no maybe....

Gently the February snow flies through the air
and softly kisses the ground here and there.

Swirling and tossed around by the angry and whistling wind,
Winter's snow is waiting to take on a new form to befriend.

She's about to give life to a parched and weary Earth
and the future flower slumbering in its wintry berth.

Another six weeks of winter has been today's weary prediction
from Pennsylvania Phil, a rodent with a weather reporter's predilection.

A furry creature that stands about 2 foot six, maybe more or less...
Phil is quite the debonair creature around the town...he's such a mess!

For me, six more weeks of Winter doesn't mean to huddle down
into blankets, to cuss, get angry or to wear an unhappy frown.

I have to admit that I like cooler temperatures and I love the snow.
I wish I could say more, but the snow is calling me out to play, I gotta go!

Well done, and cute as can be.
Missed the groundhog prediction, but I live in Arizona where the sun always shines.
