My idea of a dream life is living with my love in a forest
with a small pond nearby where weary geese can rest.
The house will be built in an Victorian style
with leaded windows and a front porch where I can while
away the hours in a huge cushioned swing and write.
In the evenings, the stars will come out and my love will hold me tight.
Cushioned window seats are throughout the house were I can rest
when housework is not filling me with any zest
(it never does) and a room just for books and room to expand.
The master bedroom will be light and airy with a huge bed and
a bathroom with a tub big enough to swim in.
There will be a spare room for guests who come and then
a gazebo outside with a hot tub to soothe things that are sore
and time to do everything...yes, I could dream a whole lot more.


But, the truth is, I live in a condo with my love- although there is a forest
nearby with a pond where weary geese do rest.
The condo isn’t anything close to Victorian style -
I don’t have those leaded windows or front porch to while
away the hours, instead I have a balcony where I can go and write
and watch the stars come out and my love holds me ever so tight.
The couch is near the windows, so I sit there when I need a rest
when the housework is filling me with disgust, not zest.
We have bookcases all over..no, there isn’t room to expand
and our master bedroom isn’t large, but we do have a huge bed and
we don't have a huge tub that we can swim in or even imagine we could,
but we do have a spare room for guests to come and we wish often they would.
There is no gazebo with a hot tub to soothe muscles or anything
and there doesn’t seem enough time in the day to do everything.
As long as I have my love with me and he holds me tight...
it doesn’t matter where we are....everything is just right.
