Lori,such an exquisite tender touch to define one of the most sad events in our culture, neglected seniors in nursing homes. Having volunteered many years in these places, I often ponder how to be sure I won't end up there. Excellent compassionate write!

So sad Lori...I saw a lot of this..

home...they all thought I was coming
for them and they would reach out and

Well-penned Lori! One of my friends' sister works in a nursing home, I often was told of some who don't have visitors.

Being 89 years old, perhaps her children are also too old to visit her? Sometimes we just have to let them know about this so it will ease their pains and they will not think that they're bing abandoned.
