A simple rose came my way Sent by a fool called love Kind hearted and pure, yet simply naīve but strangely somehow from above An unknown emotion came my way dancing like a leaf on the walk Turning and twisting and bouncing each way Uncontrolled and unwilling to talk A chance for forever came my way With virtues above those I had known Yet my heart was set on winning the bet There was never a heavenly home A final curtain came my way Calling for what I had lost Alone standing there It seemed so unfair I had nothing to cover the cost
