Had I been there, I wouldn’t be here
You were there, with the car, your car and
the other, they say he was drunk
To me, it didn’t matter
You were gone

There were no goodbyes
You didn’t come home
We went to you
To that park where everyone cried
I cried too, I was 4

Walking by, we placed roses on that box
I remember some saying how beautiful everything was
But to me, you were beautiful and
I didn’t want a box
I wanted my mom
But you were gone

A painfully penned poem, written from the depths of your heart.

Lori, real pain expressed in the way that it still remains: in the heart and mind of the four-year old who experienced it. I can in some ways identify, Lori, though no-one can truly know or share the depths of emotion we feel, because sometimes it is not fully understood even by us who have it. In many ways, I think we are all damaged children underneath our adult veneer - we have just learnt cover-up techniques. Words such as these of yours Lori, are hopefully catharctic for you, but also for those of us who likewise have damage we need to work through and let go of... many boxes that sadly we have never wanted but yet remain. Grace and Peace to you through these times KB

very touching Lori, it is such a shame the way people still drink and drive, so aweful, and the loss beyond tears al

This is so sad Lori...it must be very hard to write about pain like this, I have so much respect for your talent to be able to do that.

"I Didn't Want A Box" strikes that feeling of deep soul. It made me take a trip on the train of imagination and get off on age five...

I have enjoyed this one.

Gratefully,

Some memories even years later help us get those thoughts out of the deep part of our minds and like you said on your sight its great therapy. Thank you for you sweet comments on my work.

Such pain is always felt strongest when we are young. But so is the love we feel for those we lose.
