The walls are barren, void of love.
Evicted memories now hide in faded squares where paper smiles once graced the hall.

The walls are barren, like empty hearts
clinging to empty vows. Mindless words
once spoken on a now forgotten day.

The walls are barren. Boxes packed.
Children, torn between two lies,
say goodbye to a house
that once pretended to be a home.

The walls are barren, as they await another lie to decorate their soul.

Lori, such sad deepened emotions. I once heard that it's good that walls can't talk. I happen to believe they do...very loudly most of the time.
You've captured in words what most can't even imagine, and done it exquisitely. Lisa

Lori, this is so much like a poem I wrote, called "Walls". I must post it here so you can see. Such a meaningful poem, and written so well.

Hello Lori, tough but very good talent. enjoyed reading this. Kind of reminds me of my walls. Of course I remember when I didn't have any walls. Now I have walls and I decorate to my taste what goes onin them. I try to decorate my soul with positivity to counteract the outside effect has on it. The outside world will always try to mess up our souls decoration. l&p G

You have expressed these sad sentiments with such a fitting style, Lori - the cool blankness of barren walls, like bones that are dead and picked clean. Walls can also be the silent observers of happier times of life and truth as well as the bad times when that truth becomes tired and warped, leading to desolation and disruption. A sensitive and feeling write, well done! KB

Pain is good sometimes, otherwise how would we know what Joy is.

Lori,
This poem holds such pain, that I have seen in many people I have met.
I hope your walls are covered with beautiful paper again and your home is as lovely as your hidden heart seems.
Blessings,
Judith

Lori,
Your words are very moving and heartfelt...

"The walls are barren, as they wait for another lie
to decorate their soul."

This is so sad, yet so beautifully composed!

Love, Sheila
