This one brought back vivid memories, I used to compete when I was younger. I love how time stops and lungs burn through out. Well put and written.

Outstanding imagery, Poet!!! Excellent job!!! Now do another fifty laps…lol.
Hi awesome Lori~this is a "cut" above, internally, and oh my, externally! Here I am physically challenged and emotionally postured, braiding my every thought, mustering independence and determination to get to the finish line . . . the finish line of my day, my tiny and sometimes gigantic steps . . . swimming through a strata of commitments, pain, grief . . . swimming through all of the "stuff" that attaches to our daily journey, trying to win at "being there" in the moment, for my family, friends, partners . . . That's what I see and feel and remember when I digest, absorb, and taste your words of enlightment. This is awesome; what a wonderful way of stylizing this subject. Extrapolating, learning something about myself, to lift myself, for me, is the heart of reading. And Lori, you make it so easy and enjoyable, "life analogus to swimming." Pow! Pow! What a challenging and dynamic interpretation. Beautifully illustrated, a brillant use of figurative language. As always.

Clinical precision in this evocative and strong, muscular write, Lori. Loved the imaging from the inside, rather than the outside. My chest feels tight just reading it! Expertly done with no words wasted. Excellent. Thank you. Kate xx

Lori, excellent poem...it reminds me of my morning dashes in New Zealand to grab the milk whilst running through the frosty grass...although it wasn't so much the burn, but the snow... hehehe...good work poet...Fletcher B
