a rainbow trout
emerges, still fighting-
from an emerald pool

carried by the waves
a piece of wood settles-
then drifts again

fragrant evening-
the hint of orange blossoms
carried by the breeze

the waves break
erasing our presence-
no footprints

on the lawn
the fight of the century
two birds, one worm

the last leaf
on an autumn tree-
falls alone
