Cheap Gin in a Crystal Glass

You blur my vision…
like dust whipping in the breeze
causing tears to defend the eyes.

You blur my vision…
like reflections on the chrome of that dirty old corvette.
I’d be better off fighting rust or birds
than your polished tongue.

A breeze rattles the porch chimes reminding me that
fall will conquer the evening air. Still, I leave home in a summer dress.

Above the tree line, your sky blue eyes
touch me like a poem,
with images deeper than I have time to understand.

You’re nothing more than cheap gin in a crystal glass.
A nice package and delivery, but the taste lingers much too long.

You blur my vision…
and for now, this sight impairment intrigues me.

This is very good, Lori. Image with punch. I especially like "...your eyes touch me like a poem..." and the metaphor of a person being like cheap gin in a crystal glass.

I don't drink, Lori. But I would probably be more like Glenfiddich. And Lord knows that ain't cheap!

This is fantastic. I think most females enjoy an encounter with a 'bad boy' who blurs our vision and rocks our world. Michelle

This one makes me smile, Lori...you see through him even as he dazzles you. Why not find champagne in a simple glass? At least after you drank your fill of the cheap stuff...

When the tea is poured into a teapot,
it becomes the shape of the teapot.

When the tea is poured into a teacup
it becomes the form of a teacup.

When the cheap gin is poured into the crystal glass,
it becomes clear, pure like crystal.

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
