advertise more than they deliver. Still,
stale bread and watered soup will satisfy the souls of those
who endure the final amen. An end time sign of the end.

Ah, Lori, I'm grinning here because you have sent me back in time to a place I hardly ever think of anymore. Ha! Thanks for the memories, however unpleasant, they are still part of what made the total me.
His arms are stretched out on the cross waiting to hug us and a great banquet he has in store for the faithful. Great and sobering write of the times we live in.
Lori, this is so excellent. images are exquisite. the "gold for silver..." line captures the lost spirit of our generation so well and your close with a hopeful invitation offers us a choice. i'm saving! thx, Dawn

Very astutely observed and superbly crafted with wonderful images and metaphor. This is such a rich write, Lori, in contrast to the "poverty" and bankruptcy of which it speaks. Nothing is worse than blinkered and "stale" religion, and none more blind than those who refuse to wake up to its deadness. Jesus challenged these pedallers of His own day, whilst at the same time offering true spiritual sustenance of a different kind. And, thankfully, He still does!
