I am amazed that we have so much in common. I have a daughter, a lawyer, your age, I was abused when I was young and now suffer from dementia which does not stop me writing.

I read an amazing duellism into this finely wrought and emotionally-charged image: if two islands or two oceans come into contact, there will either be a total magnetism or a total repulsion, like the massive fields of energy generated by two powerful forces. Although you speak here of one eroding the strengths of the other, it is interesting that the island one day disappeared - by choice or not?? So, who is the strong one? Sorry, this is a tangent I know, but the "other side of the coin" popped into my head as I read this highly stimulating write. Thank you. PS Emotional control and manipulation: which is worse, the smothering wave or the dripping tap?!! LOL Kate xx
Strong words here succintly penned, how often this happens .... love is meant to be reciprocated, otherwise it will, erode. A superb and honest write Lori.
Lori another unbelivable gem, of the finest quality!
Wow! this one really stuns the senses! Brava!

Lori, this is great. You seem to be able to capture the whole picture with just a few so well and creatively placed verses that open the whole definition up to the reader.

A nimble 'touch' with your words conveys much, and with such an air of quiet desperation, Lori, it is heart wrenching. The reader can feel the loss of self, perpetuated by self. A beautiful piece of artistry.

Lori, I apologize because unfortunately I have been exceptionally busy lately, but I have continued to read your spectacular poetic creations since joining AD. I have enjoyed reading your incredible poetry and learning from your remarkable gifted quill. You do have extraordinary poetic talent, style and grace, and your revealing poetry shall continue to enlighten the masses long after we depart from this world. I know I will carry the celebrated memories of your thought-provoking and well-penned compositions throughout eternity. You continue to exemplify what poetry should do and raise the level of understanding in all who are fortunate enough to visit the sacred shores of your illustrious Den. Sometimes one can easily find themselves overwhelmed with the day-to-day struggles in life, and not be able to give 100 percent. For those of us who are willing to consider ourselves to be human beings, authors and poets we naturally tend to draw off each other’s resourcefulness and influences and continue to forge ahead, alone if necessary. Thank you for sharing your extraordinary work, my poet friend. Take care and be well. Keep The Faith.

Lori, hon, I think all of us poets have had this experience
at least one time in our lives.
Your poem has touched me...again.
Fine work, girl.
Sad but true , Lori...
Key passage "Inch by inch, I claimed your terrain
while giving little of myself. "
If you do not invest in a relationship wholly and honestly...you end up with nothing...
Welcome!
The poems in this beautifully bound book are a result of over twenty years of observations. Observations of the world around us and on the telecommunications network. All of the hate, love, heroism, disasters, and those who help.

I found "Erosion" to have been a very powerful message. Keep on writing and continue to share your observation and experience of life.

your rocky boundaries could not withstand
the erosion of my love.
Inch by inch, I claimed your terrain

Until one day, you were gone… "
Everything has an Erosion side.....
