Why Can't I Blame the Rain?

Rain falls, still, again, it seems continuously.
The phone never rings. It listens to the rain.

The patio furniture is saturated. It should have been covered days ago. Neglect is such an easy alternative. Especially,

in the rain. Following too closely, my thoughts rear-end one another. Another mental collision. A common occurrence when I think of you.

When you were here, skies were not blue, but the hue didn’t seem to matter. You were never more than a small answer to a large question… a small cloud among the gray.

Why can’t I blame the rain?

Lori, I just discovered you and I really like your work. I was plagued with genetic depression, PTS, and abuse. But I am so much better now. I enjoyed reading your bio.

Not only rain but a dreary, deadening fog as well hangs about in gloom, along with the engulfing puddles and pools. This is quite superb, Lori, in its ambling prose format as well as the language which repeats like continuous rain falling. Love the self-questioning in this - can so relate: "My little black thunder cloud just follows me around... perhaps it has something to do with me?!" Brilliant - am keeping. Thank you. Kate xx

Sad and regretful composition , Lori
A cryptic message laced with self doubt seems to hang in the moist
air....
Its always best to confront uncomfortable situations with faith and hope...

Never blame it on the rain. It's all Al Rocher's fault. I love that third verse. Brilliant lines there.

superb rendition so explicit so controlled so distanced to put your own mood right back into context in its expression i suppose theres a lot more could be said about your style & the way it works in your writing
but it still makes fine reading saludos

Interesting piece of prose. A good question, and your conclusion did not provide and answer, it simply reinforsed the premise. Well done.
