Love, was understood, in
the kitchen. Where

bread and cakes and pies
and everyday thoughts filled

the air and senses. Common
Sense was taught, in

the kitchen. More through action,
than words. Grandma’s

ways were revered in the kitchen.
From a touch of this, to a dash

of that, to a “good girl would
never.” Love, was understood,

in the kitchen. Passed down,
one recipe at a time.

This takes me back to when my mother would try to teach me recipes when I was a kid. But of course, kids have no time for recipes. And neither did I, back then. But I'm starting to catch up.

An appetising analogy and observation of life and love, Lori! Somehow, in the movies, when the girls take refuge to the homeliness of the kitchen, then you know that deep wisdom is being sought, shared and discovered... no wonder food is so central to our experience and thinking. This is, of course, food for thought! Cleverly concocted and I like the cutting of the line breaks - like dicing carrots! An active and yet reflective write, TY Kate xx

Love the scent of this poetry, sigh, a grandmother was one experience I would not enjoy in this life...so, I love reading how wonderful it must be.

A great piece of poetry about a time that is almost
non-existent now. Whoever heard of this kind of closeness
taking place at a "fast food" restaurant?
I always thought the kitchen is the place that should have
been called "the living room."
