to back the ignorant things I say,
to show mankind they’ve gone astray,
in my own self righteous, condescending way.

I have no intent to live for you,
the way those churchy hypocrites do.
I’ll exercise my own free will,
hoping for a special deal.

A truly wise pen lori. few realize that what gets you to heave in one religion will send you to hell in the next. I think it's far better to believe in the Ten Commandments and not the Ten Religions.
"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches" - glad I'm a "she" in that case!!! Right on point, as ever, Lori - not that I have a right to judge, of course, and not that my opinion matters very much!! God says that "a broken and contrite heart I will not despise" but that also true humility is having an honest appraisal of what you're about. God surely sees the reality on the inside, but often others see us from the outside so much more clearly than we see ourselves... just off to consult the mirror - oh, no!! You're there holding it! This is the perfect write on this topic, Lori. Judgmental is what we do, even when we say we deplore it; and even in the name of God. For some reason, we always think we are not like the rest, but that thought alone proves that we are, indeed, just like them...except for me, of course!
