If I didn't know better, I'd speculate you're near eighty for how else but with a lifetime of living can one own such a depth of understanding about the regrets of time spent "wallflowering."
My reading tells me that the most dominant complaint of persons reposing on their death bed is not regret for what they did but regret for what they would have liked to have done but didn't.
In lyric verses, you've expressed a lifetime's remorse.
It's been a long time since I've reviewed such a profound truth draped in such a unique and insightful offering.
Thanks for the reminder, Lori - that time is short - we should grab it by the horns and dance and sing while we can! Another beautiful and profound write, Lori!
hello Lori, hope you're doing ok, this poem takes me to my adventures now. I try real hard to take advantage of my time, and not take life for granted anymore so I won't have to say, when....... great poeming
Reminds me of good ol Joni Mitchell: "Don't it always seem to go..." doubtless you don't need ME to fill you in, here! Thing is, we never seem to LEARN do we, and our own catalogue of regrets sounds upon our soul as if no-one else had ever experienced the like. Each and every one gutting though, that's for sure. Neat and "poetically" expressed. TY Kate xx

You have an excellent creative mind..
When, oh next day or two...
Happy to read your work....
This is excellent, Lori. Why do we put off our own happiness and fulfillment? Is it because we are afraid of being softened by love and joy? We wait until it is too late then all we have are regrets. Wise and honest write.
Take care,
Sherry
A further collection of poems, many from years in the Middle East, but also the California San Francisco and Central Coast areas (Santa Cruz, Carmel, Big Sur, Berkeley, etc.).
