The Call

Heaven and hell
spar in my dreams
flavors of darkness
persuasions unseen
they call to me
call to me
summon my name
I stand in the middle
free from all shame

The tree of life
the fruit of hell
pernicious demons
an artesian well
they call to me
call to me
summon my name
Still I stand in the middle
free from all shame

Some see a cross
others a tree
some see a curse
a celestial decree
I see pure love
unhindered by shame
it calls to me
calls to me
calls me by name.

How will I answer
what shall I say
what excuse shall I give
for living my way
some say repent
others visualize
some look for tears
but I cannot cry

Heaven and hell
still spar in my dreams
I find no real answers
from mere human beings
pernicious demons
an artesian well
my answers await
in a harsh self forged cell...

I thought I would try something different... I think I’ll return to writing about lost love.

Thought provoking...and I'm glad you shared it. I usually write about lost love as well, but often take a dip in other wells. :) Thanks for reading my work on occasion. Have a great day, girl.

It makes no difference what you write...it is heartfelt and I can feel it through your words...and that is what makes you a better writer than you think...you are a true poet...sing from your heart what you feel as you always have Do not let it go and you can create anything...of that, I have no doubt!!!

Hello Lori,

Love is never lost. Look at the heart u holds . U can still see the Love . u can still feel the trueness in ur heart. I am sure u will surely write more about love and think more about Love. Keep urself happy and smiling ... which is most important for a good output from a good poet like you ... Wish u all happiness .. Keep always smiling .. I believe when a poet is sad it keep the readers too in sadness.

Reading this poem make me sad bcoz i feel u were sad at heart writing this. But this is a Excellent write. I am proud u are a good writer. Keep writing more ...

With Love for friendship
