I experience this at the most inconvenient of moments sometimes. Suddenly an urge crams into your head and you have to splash it onto paper before the images fade. Almost like an obsession takes over and overrides all other thoughts until released. Well described.

Now THIS is poetry, Lori. It has survived the "long haul to lucidity" over a very short distance and perfectly so. So much spung tension in its taut lines and the internal rhyming and rhythms are great. So, before I kill the review.... !! K xx

Yes! This is the poem to end all poems. "to defy the mysteries of a master unwilling to rule" and "Let pain be pain untainted by explanation" is just phenomenal. After reading this, I feel like throwing my pen out and I mean that in a good way.
conceptually and artistically a potent poem ... as a poem is written, it takes on its own life, free of the poet ... the poet is the vehicle moving it into being and when becomes too involved in its expression can "kill" its affect ...
What do I think of Write Me? I love it. This is a presentation straight from the courtroom, Lori. It's yes or no. It's black or white. It's you did or you didn't. Fact is fact. Smooth is smooth, raw is raw.
It's what we do with the straight-edged ruler that has the rest of us writing our fool heads off trying to convey a sentiment or a feeling without meeting it head-on. You know all about this. The person didn't pass away; they died. In this respect, we have much in common, Lori. But then if you visit my den, you'll see I violate lots of what I just said. It's the "romantic" in me, I think. I love a well-turned phrase.
Remember from the courtroom: You can't do indirectly what you can't do directly? And then everybody goes ahead and does it indirectly, anyway?
I'm not a born poet or any kind of poet, really. But I love poetry. And I think it's the poet that gives birth to the poetry.
And in Authors Den, we have some truly great poets, some who speak directly and some who are masters in phrasing things in wonderfully magical ways, in ways you want to commit to memory to try to forget all the flat-out cruelty of the world.
O, yes, Lori, I've got to read more of you. This is my first visit to your den site. But like General Mac said, "I shall return!"
