Your Gentle Deception

When love becomes an addiction...

You touch my life with the stroke of your tongue
birthing a masterpiece on the canvas of my uncertain heart
the colorful assortment of your spoken word
blends perfectly with yesterday’s bland rejection
making the grayness of lost emotion somehow seem worthwhile

You shatter my moment with the touch of your hand
scattering pieces past tomorrow's ability to heal
forcing my focus upon the sullenness of today's reality
carving a nightmare from my clandestine dreams of love
replacing hope with the stagnant pool of your gentle deception

You are my love, my life, my addiction
you offer me nothing more than the stillness of death
and for that, my love, my life is yours...

Lori! this is ripe with insight, ruthless uncovering of self and truth...brilliant. To recognize and accept that gentle deception means to understand and accept one's own needs and wants, weaknesses and strengths.

just wonderful

Hello awesome soul:
Lori, wow! Your words open my veins and my blood spew this-a-way and that-a-way! The power to touch another like this is a profound gift, uniquely stored upon unique soul-feeling-experience-living people. And Lori, that you are! ". . .yesterday's bland rejection . . .replacing hope with the stagnant pool of your gentle deception. . .you offer me nothing more than the stillness of death, and for that, my love, my life is yours." Lori, this rocks me! Uncovers me! And dusts me! Have mercy girl! For I know these rollercoaster ranges of feelings, anticipations, expectations, and yes, addictions so well. Excellent skill Lori, going there, to that place, calling it up and pushing it out. And you certaintly did it well. I appreciate reading work that moves me, learning and growing with it. You craft with power.

By the way Lori, it's so nice to read your work again; I've been away from the den myself for a long while. I guess we're both returning it seems. You're a great poetic scholar. Look forward to reading more of your empowering thoughts.
